Sweet hour of prayer

One night I picked up a guy from an airport hotel, he was from Lake Tahoe and was going to get an x-ray. Before I knew where we were going I could tell that he was troubled and sad and he was worried. I could tell this by the spirit.

I told him that I perceived he was worried and sad and concerned. He told me that he had recently undergone two open-heart surgeries and that he was going in because some of his vocal cords were paralyzed and he had to get to x-ray before 5:00. It was 4:04

I told him that I would pray for him and asked him if that would be OK. He told me that would be amazing and he thanked me. I told him that prayers work.

I talked to him about mom and her situation. Mom was in the hospital and not doing well. She had Covid and double pneumonia. We were quite concerned. I asked him if he believed in God. He said yes. I told him that with my mom alone in the hospital I prayed by the power of the priesthood that God would send angels to be with her when she was on the Covid floor because we couldn’t be.

I told him that my mom wanted to talk to me about that after she came around and that from that day forward there was a remarkable change. I told him it was the power of God that intervened.

I told him that we’re never tempted or tried in our strength, I said that we are tempted in our weakness so that we can learn to rely on God and his power instead of our own power. That way we can allow God to lift us and exalt us and be one with him.

I asked him if he could feel the spirit of God when I said those things and he said yes. He said that he could feel it the second he got in the car. I told him it was the spirit of God and I was here because God loves him and wanted him to know that.

As we were driving by the temple I talked to him about what we do in the temple. I also talked about Jesus in America and that we believe that the Book of Mormon teaches that Jesus is the God of all people not just the people of Jerusalem. I asked where his ancestors were from and he said the Philippines. I said that this book shows us that Jesus is the God of all of the people in the world, even your ancestors in Asia. I told him that Isaiah mentioned that Israel had been scattered through out the world even Asia. I told him that Jesus went to all of the house of Israel.

Looking at the temple I told him that this building was really special because we are married there for forever not just until we die because everything we do on this earth is eternal.

I asked him if it surprised him that I knew that he was struggling when he first got in the car he said yes, how did you know that? I told him it was the power of the spirit and the spirit whispered it to my heart. I only said the words the spirit put in my heart. I said that when we’re baptized and we are clean we get the gift of the Holy Ghost and it allows us to receive revelation and that he had been a witness to that revelation . He said yes I have!

I asked him if he’d heard of the Book of Mormon and he said yes. I asked him if he had one and he said no. I gave him one of Sister Secrist’s copies. I asked him to read it when he feels sad or down or scared and that the Spirit of God will fill him and help carry him through.

I asked him if we could have a prayer before he went in and he said he would love that. He asked me to pray and as I prayed I could feel the hand of God and the arms of God embracing us. He had tears in his eyes and said wow! That was powerful.

I said the power will walk with you. Read that book and pray and God will help you through. He said he had Mormon friends and I told him to reach out to them. He promised he would.

I also told him that I would be praying for him.
