We interrupt this bar crawl to bring you a message from God.

I am learning that at the end of the year there’s some pretty stupid traditions at the University of Utah. The sororities and fraternities have year ending formal dinners. One Friday night I took on a refugee from this sorority nightmare. I picked her up at the Green Pig in Salt Lake.

When she got in the car the spirit whispered to me quickly which is good because this was a quick trip. The spirit told me that she felt like she was overwhelmed but she didn’t say anything. She was a senior and her sorority was having their senior dinner and then they were doing a bar crawl. She didn’t feel like going. She wanted a warm mellow evening and so she was going over to her boyfriends house.

On the way I got impressions that she was feeling unloved despite the fact that she lived with her mother, had a boyfriend and had lived with a sorority full of friends. She was even one of the leaders.

She talk to me about her work and we talked about Covid and how it was affecting everybody. She seemed confident, sure and happy on the outside. Then I started to say the things the Lord put into my heart. I told her that I felt like she was feeling that she was missing out despite her popularity and all of the many things she had going in her life. I said that she felt like she wasn’t loved even though I felt that there was a tremendous amount of love for her. All the people around her loved her, her father in heaven loved her and she wasn’t accepting that love either. She wanted to do this on her own to prove how strong and independent she was.

She said you are amazingly spot on, are you psychic? I said no. I talked to her a little bit more about love and that she needed to allow people to serve her. The spirit prompted me to know that this really made her uncomfortable so she normally didn’t allow it. Through the spirit I told her that unless she allowed them to serve her she wouldn’t feel their love for her. She said again, spot on. That is exactly what my mother tells me, how do you know these things, you must be a psychic.

I asked her what religion she was and she said that her mom and dad were Mormon. She said that she graduated from seminary but had left the church. I asked her to remember when she was baptized. I told her that after she was baptized she received the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost whispers the things we need to know to help ourselves and help others. I told her that the Holy Ghost was whispering these things to me and I was saying them.

When someone asks you how you knew or how you were able to do something, you should never shy away from telling them. I told her that just like Samuel the Lamanite had the Lord whisper to his heart, from the start of her drive the spirit has been whispering to my heart the things to say and that these were the things that I said.

I talked about Jesus Christ and the atonement. I talked about my testimony of God‘s love for her and my testimony of the church. The spirit was strong in the car and she felt and acknowledged it. I told her God had sent me with that message for her and that she needed to act. She was silent and it was reverent in the car.

I told her that God wanted to see changes in her life, God wanted her to come back. I looked at her and saw that my testimony impacted her, she was touched by the spirit. We both knew this was true, we knew that what she was feeling was hitting the target.

We had finally arrived at the home of her boyfriend and she was silent and quiet in the car. The silence was only broken by the occasional sniffle. We sat for quite a while. We sat for so long that her boyfriend came out to the car to get her. She told him to chill.

This was an amazing experience to me because this young woman had gone all in on popularity in college, mocking the church and turning from it’s practices and doctrine. As the president of her sorority clearly she had been a leader in doing so. Now in one car right she had been shown the truth and that her parents were right. She knew what she had to do and it was going to take courage to reverse this course. I pray that she found it.

I had mentioned my blog to her and she asked for the URL. Then she looked it up and said she loved it. She asked if she could contact me through the contact tab. I said yes.

She got out of the car and said thank you. She said that I would hear from her again. When I do I hope to hear that she is back!

Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.
